M. Ali Rashid is the founder and CEO of Pacific Venture Partners, a family office he established in 2015 to manage his diverse portfolio of investments. Under Ali’s leadership, Pacific Venture Partners employs a thematic investment approach, with a focus on generating attractive risk adjusted returns in investments that span a variety of industries and asset classes.
Ali Rashid began his career at Goldman Sachs as a Financial Analyst in Investment Banking. He later moved to Apollo Global Management as one of the first 30 investment professionals, playing a meaningful role in the firm’s growth from $6 billion to $180 billion in assets under management. Ali’s responsibilities involved running several global industry verticals and executing transactions in both private equity and distressed debt. His contributions to Apollo’s success earned him a promotion to the youngest Partner at the time of Apollo’s IPO and later the youngest Senior Partner at the firm. Throughout his time at Apollo, Ali sat on various public and private boards, including those of Realogy, Metals USA, Quality Distribution, Noranda, Ascometal and Countrywide, amongst others.
Following his tenure at Apollo, Ali joined Guggenheim Partners, as a Senior Partner. He was recruited to help build out and grow Guggenheim’s alternative investment platform via an affiliated entity, Cain Hoy Enterprises. As a private investor, Ali has also consulted for several family offices and investment firms in the Middle East, where he has played a key role in numerous transactions throughout the region.
Ali Rashid holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, with concentrations in Finance and Accounting. He received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He continues to maintain close ties to Stanford through several avenues. Originally from Southern California, Ali Rashid now resides in Miami Beach. He enjoys staying active, traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with his pets Merlin (pomeranian) and Bandit (pomsky). Ali also actively supports a number of charitable organizations and is an avid sports fan.
